Coffee table safety

Baby proofing your family’s living or family room is top of the safety list. Aside from replacing your outlets with safety slide plates, removing the breakables and choking hazards there is one major improvement you can easily make. REMOVE YOUR COFFEE TABLE! I often tell clients, “if I had a penny for every time I’ve heard of an accident on a coffee table I’d be a rich man”. I’ve seen first hand on two consultations what can happen when a child falls into a coffee table, but weekly for over 20 years I hear at least five to ten stories of coffee table injuries. I am self labeled the “coffee table grinch”. Baby’s and toddler’s can’t react in time to stop themselves from hitting a coffee table head on. They simply cannot put their hands out in time to prevent the impact to their head. Its as if we as adults were to put our hands behind our backs and fall into the dining room table, not good. By removing your coffee table (which can be replaced by an ottoman) you have greatly reduced the risk of one of the more common injuries to your little one.
